Project 01
Tabletop Game Proposal
The task is about designing an original tabletop game. Students are required to create a gameplay framework based on their research of digital and analogue games. The project involves proposing a unique game system with a visual theme, potentially linked to a specific narrative or genre. Additionally, students will identify research problems, develop questions, and suggest gameplay solutions as they refine their game concept. The process includes proposing a game design, gathering gameplay data, and presenting the rough framework for feedback and critique.
INTRODUCTION
Sudsprite Spin is a tabletop game where players embody flawed, everyday characters who find themselves trapped in the surreal and chaotic world of Latherland. After encountering bizarre spirals during mundane moments in their lives, these individuals—a a diverse cast of flawed, everyday individuals—a down-on-his-luck salesman, an exhausted single mother, a paranoid conspiracy theorist, a disillusioned philosopher, a shut-in battling anxiety, and an aging magician clinging to past glories —are whisked away into a realm where socks mysteriously vanish, and Sudsprites, bubble-adorned spirits, revel in creating bathtime chaos. To escape this whimsical yet perplexing world, players must gather "socks" (keys) hidden within absurd survival scenarios, all while managing their survival resources and navigating the Sudsprites' unpredictable Spins. Each day presents unique challenges through ever-changing situations, and the player with the most socks by the end of the game emerges victorious in this hilarious struggle for freedom.
